What goes into making an advent calendar?

We’ve helped a range of businesses create bespoke advent calendars for the festive season. In the world of advent calendars, there’s more choice than ever – from traditional picture and chocolate calendars to soaps, cosmetics, spirits, and anything else you can think of. If you’re considering a bespoke advent for your products, there are a few things you’ll need to think about beforehand.

The right gifts

Before we begin designing bespoke packaging we need to know what’s going to be behind the doors. Usually, advent calendars will feature a range of festively-themed products – from teas and soaps with Christmassy scents, to sparkly makeup or nail polish. Each of the 12-24 products in a calendar needs to be special in its own way, but still form a cohesive range altogether. The ideal item should also be small enough to fit in a calendar that can sit on someone’s mantlepiece or side table.

So many shapes

We’re able to create custom folding boxes in a huge variety of shapes, so whether you’re looking for a classic rectangular calendar or something more unusual, we’re sure we can help. Unique calendar designs range from octagonal or triangular boxes all the way to Christmas tree or house-shaped boxes. We can also design additional features such as lids, cut-outs, handles and more.

Our in-house vacuum-forming capabilities mean we can create bespoke plastic trays to snugly fit the items housed in the calendars. This both protects the gifts during transport and makes sure they stay put behind their doors.

Eye-catching designs

Because the products are hidden, the exterior of an advent calendar is just as important as the gifts inside. Calendars are also usually displayed in people’s homes, so the design of the packaging needs to be top quality. Whether you have an idea in mind or come to us with a blank slate, we’ll be more than happy to work with you to create something really special. You’ll also be able to take advantage of our various production techniques, including foiling, embossing, and litho-laminated printing.
